New arena in Australia’s Gold Coast gets go ahead

The Gold Coast City Council has green lit a new 12,000-cap arena near Brisbane

The building of a new 12,000-cap arena near Brisbane, tentatively called Gold Coast Arena, has been given approval by Gold Coast City Council. It will be part of a wider infrastructure and development programme as Brisbane gears up to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The venue, around 75km south of Brisbane city centre, will be developed through a public-private partnership and will cater for sports and entertainment events.
